First things first, the MCG with 70,309 people in it looks like a Wrestlemania... wow!
THE BAR v THE NEW DAY
- Both entrances show that these wrestlers are bloody loving this experience down under! Huge smiles on everyone's faces...
- Electric start with Woods and Kofi using a variety of aerial moves to get the crowd going.
- Both get caught and we get the MOMENTUM CHANGE!
- Sheamus stopping the 10 clubs when only at four to annoy the fans who were counting along was great.
- That's the first Cesaro swing we have seen in a LONG time!
- The feet on the rope spot I loved. A clear heel move!
- What a finish... a back-stabber and double stomp. OUCH.
- Fun, feel-good start to the show for the live crowd.
Michael Cole on Melbourne... it's hip, it's up and coming, it's clean... it's incredible. HAHA.
BECKY LYNCH v CHARLOTTE FLAIR
- That's the biggest face pop Charlotte has had in this rivalry...
- Great promo package after the entrances... always find that weird timing.
- "I just want you to call me Queen... bitch." Shoot The Runner!
- "It took you two years to win that title - you can lose it in one night."
- LOVE IT.
- After the promo package the fans go back to backing Lynch. Odd.
- Becky fights dirty from the start, avoiding a lock up with a kick to the ribs.
- UGLY fall for Charlotte out the ring, just tucking her head in time.
- Lynch continues her rugged, brawling including hair pulls and trash talking.
- DIS-ARM-HER locked in whilst pulling at the fingers of Flair!
- Charlotte breaks out to boos.
- Let's Go Becky chants...
- You fucked up chants for a botch... classic Aussies!
- Lynch tries to steal one!
- YAY and BOO as Lynch and Charlotte trade blows.
- Lynch kicks out of the Spear!
- Knees up for the moonsault!
- Becky misses top rope legdrop!
- Charlotte lets go of the boston crab in the rope
- Becky tries to walk out
- A second spear!
- Figure of Eight!
- Becky uses her title to get DQ'd.
- This was far better than their Summerslam match in my opinion.
- They need Becky to do more stuff like this to actually get her booed.
- Although people kept cheering her here. Frustrating. Probably need to put her with someone else to get that reaction as Charlotte gets the Roman Reigns treatment.
JOHN CENA & BOBBY LASHLEY v ELIAS & KEVIN OWENS
- Elias plays an AC/DC riff. Is Angus Young turning up like Charlie wanted??!
- Nope, it's Bobby Lashley instead.
- John Cena is here!!! U CAN'T STOP ME. Interesting...
- Bobby Lashley runs funny.
- Cena has new hair that makes him look a bit like JBL.
- This match struggled to hold my attention and I started playing solitaire.
- I look up and Lashley is beating both Elias and Owens up by himself.
- Cena is yet to be in the ring... make the fans wait, lads.
- Owens' trash talk is the best.
- Heels work over Lashley. When it's him and Elias in the ring, it is not good.
- Lashley misses the apron spear! This Cena hot tag is gonna be BANANA!
- Owens hits the frog splash.
- Cena chants from the crowd. Building well to the tag to be fair.
- Cena hams it up and... HOT TAG!
- Straight to the five moves of doom HAHA.
- Wait he adds a new move! It's basically a back punch.
- Cole actually calls it the six moves of doom!
- CENA WINS LOL.
- Lashley looked like a bit of a fool, not going for the tag and getting beaten up for 10 mins.
- Cena gets on the mic and thanks the fans. "WWE has been my home and will always be my home." "I have no idea what the future holds."
- Super Cena did six moves, got the win and a promo at the end - whilst Lashley sat in the corner sweating from actually being in the match.
ASUKA & NAOMI v THE IICONICS
- The Iiconics say they are home. I thought Cena just did that promo?
- There is no ramp for Naomi to slide down. That makes me sad.
- The nightglow stuff looks fun.
- Graves says he preferred it when Asuka kicked people more and danced less. Me too.
- Naomi did a shimmy whilst doing the splits. It's a ten from Len!
- The Iiconics are really funny.
- Peyton Royce selling the enziguri was a big highlight.
- Naomi spanked Peyton and there was a deafening silence from the commentary team.
- The Iiconics win!
- That was a fun match, but I feel like only Australia buys The Iiconics at present. They are fun but Naomi and Asuka are in a different league as wrestlers. Nothing they do actually looks like it hurts. Fix that and they will survive the cuts next year.
AJ STYLES v SAMOA JOE
- Promo shows the build to this match which has been great. Samoa Joe has been terrifying as a psychological mind fuck.
- How will the story play out? Styles loses because of the mind games, or does Joe take his eye off the ball by being too interested in trying to mind fuck Styles?
- Loved the start of this with Joe waiting in the aisle and Styles running to him with a forearm. The feud warrants a start like that, not a lock up.
- Samoa Joe chopped the shit out of Styles. That was WALTER worthy.
- Joe with the tope to the outside. Bugger that.
- Styles sells better than anyone on the roster in my opinion.
- LARIATOOOO Styles hit inside out.
- Styles bleeding from the mouth from that, yet again.
- Dropkick into the chair from Styles!
- Big chairshots to the back of Joe.
- Joe does the uranagi through the chair! That could have broken his arm...
- Joe grabs a table!
- Chairshots to Styles back now.
- Odd looking table bump with a sideways electric chair? Joe appears to have hurt his knee.
- Joe says 'It popped'.
- Styles goes for the bad knee!
- Styles goes for the calf crusher but Joe transitions to the coquina clutch!
- Styles escapes.
- 450 on the bad knee of Joe!
- Phenomenal forearm off the barrier!
- Sleeper suplex! WOW.
- This has been a brilliant battle.
- Both are struggling to stand.
- Joe's knee gives out on the muscle buster.
- Calf crusher locked in!
- Joe taps!
- That was so, so good. Loved it.
- Is that the end of the feud?
RONDA ROUSEY & THE BELLAS v THE RIOTT SQUAD
- I'm so confused by The Riott Squad. They all look and dress so different. They have matching beanies now though.
- Huge ovation for Rousey!
- Nikki Bella convinces a pumped up Rousey she should start instead. Hmm. Here we go heel Nikki.
- Rousey not getting tagged in.
- That running knee by Sarah Logan looked savage. Hit better than Khabib Nurmagomedov!
- Ruby Riott is really good.
- Heat segment on Nikki Bella. Lots of talking between the Squad and the ref for some reason.
- Rousey tagged in and kicks ass.
- Morgan saves Logan from the armbar
- Rousey beats up both Logan and Morgan, makes them both tap!
- Don't think we needed both of them to tap, but at least it makes Rousey look STRONG.
- Can see Nikki turning on Rousey soon enough.
CEDRIC ALEXANDER v BUDDY MURPHY
- Buddy Murphy wearing the Aussie flag for his entrance.
- This is gonna be a BANGER.
- Murphy starts strong with a flying cannonball and meteora just a minute into the match!
- HUGE superkick by Alexander.
- Michinoku Driver off the top by Alexander!
- Alexander hits the flying cannonball over the top rope!
- Springboard leg kick turns Murphy inside out!
- Alexander looks perplexed by the crowd reaction.
- Cheeky Nandos!
- Running powerbomb gets a 2 for Murphy!
- V-Trigger!
- Spanish fly!
- Lumbar check! MURPHY KICKS OUT!
- Murphy wins with his finisher!
- Great reaction from the crowd!
- Fun match, nowhere near as good as their one on 205 Live earlier this year, but hopefully good enough to make casual fans want to watch that show, because it is so much better now than it used to be.
- Murphy should have great matches as champ, whilst as heel having a different dynamic to Alexander, who also had bangers.
THE SHIELD v THE DOGS of WAR
- The Shield coming through the crowd, Sick.
- Mustafa Ali should do them for gimmick infringement though with those masks.
- The Shield surround the ring via the aprons. Old School. Love that.
- Shield Bomb on Braun is intercepted!
- Dolph being actively portrayed as the weak link in Dogs of War and Dean getting mind fucked by the opposition makes a fun story. Who will break first?
- Heat segment on Rollins.
- 3 on 1 mugging!
- Buckle bomb on Ziggler!
- Again he looks the weak link. Good continuity.
- Braun on the top rope?!
- Jumping nothing misses!
- Ambrose gets the tag!
- Zig zag reversed!
- Dirty deeds reversed!
- Double flying crossbody. OUCH.
- Reigns gets the tag!
- Ziggler and Drew take a kicking. Keeping Braun STRONG.
- Reigns accidentally superman punches Ambrose! Can see this being the main at TLC.
- McIntyre kicks out of the superman punch!
- Dog of War do the Shield apron thing on Reigns and Rollins. Ambrose is on the other apron! TEASE.
- Ambrose goes for Braun instead.
- Shield bomb intercepted again!
- Braun shoulder charges Reigns and Rollins on the outside!
- Ambrose kicks out of the zig zag!
- Reigns saves Ambrose by spearing Braun THROUGH the barrier!
- Dirty Deeds on Ziggler wins it for the Shield.
- Dolph again is the weak link, but Ambrose chooses The Shield AND Reigns makes amends for his error with the save. Great match, great booking.
DANIEL BRYAN v THE MIZ
- The Miz is such a brilliant dick. That get up...
- I like Styles watching the match backstage. Hype.
- Daniel Bryan interrupts The Miz. Yes! Yes! Yes!
- Miz attacks at the bell.
- Straight for the injured ribs of Bryan.
- Yes kicks!
- Miz gets a 2 with the flying knee!
- Roll up win for Bryan! Huh?
- Well, that was outta nowhere!
- That finish protects Miz, giving him something to moan about and shows the wrestling ability of Bryan. Bring on AJ v American Dragon!
THE UNDERTAKER v TRIPLE H
- Taker looks a bit like Bill Bailey?
- Triple H tries to go old school on Taker but gets caught in the goozle.
- Taker hits old school!
- Snake eyes by Taker but HHH responds with a running knee!
- HBK drives Taker into the ring post.
- HBK is helping HHH, Kane is a bit useless?
- HHH sent over the ropes and into the barricade.
- Michaels again distracts Taker.
- Amongst the crowd, Taker chokes HHH with some cabling. That's an Attitude era spot.
- Crowd brawl! Is this a Suzuki Gun match?
- MASSIVE chair shot to HHH's back!
- Big Boot on Michaels by Taker.
- Kane finally gets involved - gets a Sweet Chin Music and then an elbow through a table. Haha, Kane is shit. Good choice of backup, Taker.
- Chokeslam on Triple H!
- Tombstone! HHH kicks out!
- Taker punches the ref. That's a bit weird?
- More horrible chair shots to HHH's back.
- Taker continues to taunt HBK.
- HBK on apron to save HHH from imminent death.
- Taker punches HBK.
- HHH spinebuster!
- Pedigree! (Kinda)
- Just a 2!
- HHH kneedrops a chair into Taker's throat!
- Kane drags the ref out during the count. He did something useful!
- Sledgehammer v chair. Sledgehammer wins.
- HHH has the pin but no ref!!!
- Hell's gate applied by Taker!
- HHH uses the sledgehammer to choke Taker.
- Both men slump as the crowd applauds.
- HBK low blow on Kane. He IS human!
- Taker throws HBK out.
- Pedigree reversed.
- CHOKESLAM!
- SWEET CHIN MUSIC on Taker.
- Sledgehammer to Taker.
- Sweet chin music
- Pedigree
- HHH WINS!
- Taker hands HHH the sledgehammer.
- HHH picks Taker up.
- Hugs!
- All four raise eachother's hands.
- HHH cries.
- Brothers of Destruction attack!!!
- Taker chokeslams HBK through the announce table. You Deserved it!
- That was obviously super slow, but I enjoyed it.
- The finish sets up the tag match at Crown Jewel and that will then setup HBK v Taker at Mania I assume.
On the whole, that was a success in my opinion. 4 hours is a bit of a slog, but only during the main did it drag and that is because it featured two old men. Recommend watching if you haven't bothered yet.
