Wrestling should be Fun - Wrestlemania Trip Diary

Featuring regulars - JCH and The Chant Police

Recurring Guests - RevPro Rob and Shads

Introducing - Cook, Sal, Mikey, Diana and Mick

A huge panic the night before we go as Mike The Chant Police realises his ESTA is registered to this old passport and with new advice suggesting a minimum of 72 hours he may not be able to make the plane. JCH has his own, slightly less trip ending, troubles as he has to write an essay about the Mills Brothers for school. Cook is relaxes sinking beers and watching Wolves beat Man Utd on JCH’s sofa, whilst RevPro Rob has flown to NYC a night early to score us invites to a podcast party.

Once I get most of my essay done I make Cook watch the David Starr vs Jordan Devlin promo package and Cook, a man who Is not easily impressed, is very positive on it. At 00.38am Mike gets the all clear on his new ESTA application, having had to sweat through 5 hours of pending and Cook and myself meet a relieved man at the airport.

The airport is full of wrestling fans and at least one wrestler. Whilst in the pub sharing a beer with the infamous Giant Clap from Progress (half way through we realised we’d never actually found out his name) Mike spotted former friend of the group Chuck Mambo and had a brief word. We didn’t buy him a pint because he insulted Dom for doing that (via Pete) at Progress on Sunday.

During the flight I spent £2.99 for messenger access, so was able to update the plane (via Ross) that Kyle O’Reilly had entered Super Strong Style. A fantastic acquisition of one of my favourite wrestlers, who will certainly enhance the weekend. For me a very underrated singles competitor due to his absolute top standing as a tag team wrestler.

The flight passed reasonably easily enough. I finally started watching Killing Eve. What a show. How did I wait so long. Will finish that on the way home.

We arrived, eventually found one of the Dallas crew, Sal and after Mike and Cook finally go through Customs, and we exchanged details with the Clapper (Colin), we got a Lyft back home. (Other ride sharing services are available).

In a bid to beat jetlag, we went out to grab some food and a beer at Paulie’s brickhouse. I managed one pint and a great Siciclian cheesesteak sandwich before retiring home via a stop and Shop to pick up some essentials for the morning. The suburbs of Jersey have some interesting characters shopping at midnight on a Wednesday. Such as the one guy who did his entire weekly shop which he put through in two orders as he had multiple coupons. Despite everyone else behind him having max of four items and the shop shiutting in 10 minutes Or the guy who was ‘flirting’ with the checkout girl who did not seem entirely interested in his attempts.

Sal and Cook watched NXT when we got home whilst the rest of us passed out.
