World of Pro Wrestling (Ep. 2 26/10/2018)

Writer's picture: WSBFWSBF

Last week was an excellent start to this new show from Revolution Pro Wrestling, with top in-ring action, good production values and the authoritative voice of Kevin Kelly all adding to the success of it. I'm looking forward to episode two!

We get a recap of the Chris Brookes heel turn last week ending in El Phantasmo making the save. Kevin Kelly addresses the TV audience along with Andy Boy Simmonz and says a Chris Brookes v El Phantasmo match will be our main event this evening!

We get a run down of the rules of professional wrestling again, just like last week.

GREG BURRIDGE v COLT CABANA

This is a meeting of former partners as these two wrestlers used to form Team S.H.A.G. Greg Burridge hasn't changed too much, with his sexual humping of the referee and revealing of furry dice on his trunk playing fully from his playbook of years ago. They do talk of his travels of late to India, where he has been in Bollywood films. It is noted he hasn't been a full-time performer for some time.

Colt Cabana, who claimed he wanted to be British champion again last week, hasn't got much more serious, but he is certainly not a team S.H.A.G member anymore! He has since travelled the world and become a big name in the pro wrestling world. This should be a fun match between two liked babyfaces.

- Before the match starts, Burridge and Cabana playfully check each other for hidden weapons.

- Great chain wrestling between the two, including a headstand from Greg to reverse a wristlock.

- More brilliant exchanges ending with Burridge being made a fool of by Cabana.

- A further exchange of holds between the two ends in a stalemate.

- Cabana wraps Burridge up with a clever pin for 2!

- Cabana offers Burridge a handshake, which he accepts but then blasts Colt with a European uppercut!

- Colt and Greg now hit eachother with strong style strikes, in a momentum change.

- We are shown Sha Samuels watching the match on a monitor backstage.

- Cabana hits his Dusty strikes a flying hip attack and then a second rope splash for 2.

- Burridge hits a slingshot senton for 2!

- Cabana responds with the Superman diving pin for 3!

- CABANA WINS!

- The crowd cheer wildly for Colt post-match and cheer his name.

- Colt is interviewed in-ring after the match and says he loves how much the UK crowd is in to him. He says he has been coming here since 2003, sees the UK as a second home and wants to be the British champion again. He was the first ever international star to win the title and he will win it back with the respect of British wrestling on British television.

- A great introduction to the fun loving style of Colt Cabana here and a brilliant passionate promo that got the right response from the crowd which plays off last week's promo. Fantastic stuff.

Colt Cabana wants to be British champion again!

ANDY QUILDAN BACKSTAGE PROMO

Kevin Kelly talks to Revolution Pro Wrestling head honcho Andy Quildan about the tag title tournament, but before he can say too much, he is interrupted by David Starr. The British Cruiserweight Champion blasts Quildan for what he sees as a lack of respect paid to him and his championship.

He claims it is a real conspiracy that Quildan keeps throwing unworthy competitors his way who do not deserve a shot at his title. He says he didn't get on the opening show and mentions that his Heavyweight Champion isn't even in the country. You should be getting behind David Starr.

- This was well done with Starr coming across like an annoying egotistical conspiracy theorist and not allowing anyone else to get a word in to baulk his claims.

David Starr was hectic on the mic

TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT BRACKET

Kevin Kelly breaks down the British Tag Team Championship bracket where eight teams battle it out to see who becomes the #1 contenders. Stakes are heightened as if a team becomes champion during the tournament, this will then be a tournament for the titles themselves.

- This was simple and effective, without the full analysis of a WWE bracketology show.

The Tag Team Tournament Bracket was revealed

ROPPONGI 3K v HxC - TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT QUARTER FINAL

Kevin Kelly details that Sho and Yoh won their first ever Junior Tag Titles on their first night in New Japan. The crowd pops big for them and their ace theme music. HxC are described as a pair of protestors who are going to take what they want as they are tired of not being given the chances others do. This should be a clear face v heel dynamic!

- Chris Roberts takes the crowbar away from Dan Head.

- James Castle blindsides Sho, and HxC double team to begin, which brings boos from the crowd.

- Andy Boy Simmonz explains that the Head family are feared in Portsmouth...

- Roppongi 3K take control with quick tags.

- Momentum changes with Dan Head raking the eyes of Yoh.

- The aggressive, brawling style of HxC is on show as they take control.

- Chris Roberts is trying to get Sho out of the ring, who is remonstrating that Dan Head is illegally strangling Yoh in the other corner.

- Do your job Roberts, do your job is chanted by the fans!

- Dragon screw leg whip by Yoh and tags from both sides!

- Sho takes out both members of HxC with his high octane power moves.

- James Castle hits a double stomp on Sho's back and straight into a double stomp on Yoh's chest!! Unbelievable!

- BLOOD FORCE TRAUMA!

- Sho kicks out at 2!

- Double stomp on Yoh who was being held horizontally by Head, spinning him inside out!

- Yoh kicks out at 2!

- Roppongi 3K respond with their signature moves including a backcracker and jumping knee strikes.

- 3K!!!

- ROPPONGI 3K WIN!

- That was an enjoyable match. 3K are clearly the better team of the two, but HxC performed well and got a lot more confident as the match wore on. Head in particular has some great character traits, whilst Castle impressed with his moveset. Roppongi were simply a class above though and the crowd were happy with the result.

Roppongi 3K reached the tag tournament semi final

CHRIS BROOKES v EL PHANTASMO

The crowd boo Chris Brookes on his entrance after his actions last week. Kevin Kelly says it is a sign of the true colours of Brookes - CCK have always been known as team that broke the rules. Footage is shown of ELP making the save for Liger last week and the crowd respond with cheers and get right behind him.

- ELP moonsaults into the ring and then poses to end his entrance.

- Brookes immediately dropkicks him from behind! He didn't even get a chance to take his sunglasses off!

- Brookes continues the beat down outside the ring.

- El Phantasmo is side slammed onto the ring apron!

- Brookes does the move that first started getting him booed last week - he wraps the apron over ELP's face and STAMPS on his mush!

- Brookes targets the leg of ELP with submissions.

- ELP fights back but Brookes takes out the leg once again.

- The crowd boo as ELP winces in pain.

- El Phantasmo hits a multitude of moonsaults as he comes back!

- 2 Topes by ELP in a row!

- The crowd chants E-L-P

- Second rope moonsault to the outside by ELP who misses but lands on his feet.

- Superkick by Brookes!

- ELP uses the guardrail to hit a flying superman punch!

- Top rope splash using the MIDDLE of the rope by ELP!

- Swingblade cutter from Brookes! ELP kicks out!

- ELP hits a reverse neckbreaker out of an airplane spin for 2!

- El Phantasmo walks ALL FOUR SIDES of the ropes!

- Brookes' tag partner Jonathan Gresham arrives and causes the distraction.

- Brookes hits ELP off the ropes, who lands crotch first. Ouch.

- JAY DRILLER! That looked sick.

- CHRIS BROOKES WINS!

- Andy Boy Simmonz comments that the change of attitude is the reason he won this week, but lost last time out.

- This was a great match, with both wrestlers looking good. ELP was spectacular and exciting thanks to his high-flying moves and only lost due to the interference. Brookes is shown to be more of a threat now due to his change of heart and possessing a scary finisher and back-up in Jonathan Gresham.

Chris Brookes won thanks to Jonathan Gresham

This was a good second episode that flew by. Three matches that were all very different and decent in their own ways, whilst pushing future matches for upcoming weeks. Colt Cabana came across like a star, RP3K were excellent and the main event really delivered. Thumbs up! If you don't have the network, make sure you catch these shows for FREE on Freesports!
