Stardom Osaka Night 6/1/2019
By JCH
Tonights show has the two Trios Tournament Semi Finals, plus the final. Also the losing teams meet in a couple go Trios matches but up first is a rare Singles match.
It’s one of my favourites Jamie Hayter going one on one with Sadie Gibbs. Should be a good one.
Jamie Hayter vs Sadie Gibbs
Pre Match Promo Highlights - Sadie - We have similar styles. I will win
Jamie - ‘Gibbs is a bloody beast’ but Jamie is confident and will take the W. Jamie talking is great.
Kagestu, Natsu and Hazuki accompany Jamie to the ring. Jamie gives sarcastic applause during Sadie’s entrance.
Match Highlights - Long collar and elbow tie up to start, that includes rolling out of the ring and fighting into the crowd whilst still in it. Probably lasted at least 90 seconds. When it finally breaks. Sadie offers a hand and Jamie slaps her. Nice tope from Jamie who then takes a swig of water and spits it in her face. These two are doing a great job of conveying hatred. Sadie catches Jamie’s leg and power bombs her on the apron. Strong. Jamie avoids the standing moonsault and lands a double knees to the back. Running double knees to the corner and a neck breaker onto the knee for 2. Jamie is striking her down and Sadie fires back. They’re just wailing on each other. Holding each others hair and big chest slaps. Double scream and roundhouse to each others head. That was a great exchange.
Both struggle to feet. German from Jamie, Sadie to her feet and a huge release German. More strikes. Big head kick from Jamie for 2. Sadie head kick. Stomp from Jamie and the bell rings. Time Limit Draw. That was an entertaining hard hitting match. They smashed shit out of each other. I look forward to them doing it again. Jamie sells the affects really well walking up the ramp as she almost staggers into the crowd. Top stuff.
Queens Quest vs Hana Shamai
Pre Match Promo Highlights - The sisters - They lost in the first round but will beat QQ today. Got to love their optimism. P.M.A
QQ - We lost, but they know Viper/Bea and Utami will bring it home. They have ‘A trios match versus these chibis, but we won’t lose to these kids’ Brilliant. Chibis!
The master apron punters with the great gymnastics entrance! I’m not confident of their chances in this match. I haven’t seen them win yet and Momo has one of the big belts so I’m picking Queens Quest. Some of Hina’s streamers get stuck to the roof. The crowd learn and throw Rina’s at a lower trajectory. Shit the sisters attack Momo during the Streamer throwing. Scandalous.
Match Highlights. Its a cycle of dropkicks and apron punts at the start. Classic sisters. Then they all angry stomp Momo as if she’s fallen over in the St Peter’s playground circa 2000. I think they will regret that sneak attack. Hana is now just getting twatted in the back by kicks .She shows some good aggression firing back with forearms. First time I’ve seen her on the offensive and not smiling. Are the sisters fed up with just being happy to be here. Now its dropkick cycle on to all 3 QQ members in the corner. They take control again. Double dropkick to the head of Konami for a nearfall. Konami takes control of Rina and hits a sweet missile drop-kick to her seated head.
Hanan with a pinning combination on AZM and I thought that was it. Great late kickout. Triple missile dropkick then AZM with double stomp off the top for the pin. Really enjoyable match.
Best showing by a long way from the sisters for me. The match had a good story with QQ taking the sisters lightly and the sisters showing a far more aggressive side than in previous matches, but they are not at the level of their opponents and that ultimately made the difference
J.A.N vs Hana Kimura, Bobbi Tyler and Mary Apache in our second match up of 1st round losers is next.
Pre Match Promo Highlights - Hana, Bobbi and Mary w/Sadie - They are going to win. Hana looks bored.
J.A.N - Ruaka, Natsuko and J.K with their usual catchphrases. Looking more up for it than Hana.
Hana’s music freaks me out every time. J.A.N’s music is much less unsettling. Very upbeat. When it slows down a bit it could almost be a theme tune for a Sky Test series abroad.
Bobbi gets 2 Streamers. Mary get 4. Hana gets loads. She looks happy. Less bored than promo time. Ruaka gets hit in the face twice by streamers. Good haul for Natsuko. The Crowd nail Jungle this time. Waiting for her to scream at the opposition then catching her with the streamers as she walks back into the middle. Good job learning from earlier crowd.
Match Highlights - Bobbi mocks Natsuko’s height with a Test of Strength, but Nastuko jumps and grabs her. Nice work. Top missile dropkick from Hana on JK. Funny interaction between JK and Hana as they take it in turns to psyche themselves up shaking the ropes before punching each other. Mary and JK no sell a load of clotheslines. Sweet Superkick from Mary on JK.
Ruaka reverses a dragon sleeper into a fisherman’s suplex with bridge on Bobbi. Hana just broke up the 3 count. Sleeper from Bobbi, whilst Hana has JK in an octopus and Mary surfboards Natsuko. Ruaka I think tapped. May have passed out. Bobbi wins so we don’t have to hear Han’as music. Quick match. Solid. Not sure I’ve seen J.A.N win yet. Pretty sure Ruaka has taken 4 straight pins as well. I think picking against her in the Pickems would be a good idea.
Next up is Trios Tournament Semi Final Action.
STARS vs STARS Alex, Starlight Kid and Natsumi vs Tam, Kashima and my new 2nd favourite Hoskiki
Pre Match Promo - STARS B The sisters were tough but we won. We will do our best
STARS A - Kashima says they won and these 2 actually got along. I knew there was history there. Tam does still ignore Hoshiki’s attempts at banter tho. They’re confident of winning this STARS battle. I tend to agree with them.
Starlight Kid’s music is one of my preferred so far. Not Oedo Tai level but it’s fine. STARS come out to something with guitars that’s not all electric and it has lyrics! Go on Lyrics. Hopefully when I get to some more single’s matches I’ll learn who’s music is what. This one is good tho. Hoshiki is happy to be in the ring. Hero.
Alex gets some streamers. Natsumi gets two waves of streamers. Starlight Kid gets way more. Hoshiki again gets a load of streamers and beats them up as they come. What a wizard. Good streamer haul for Tam. Kashima may have the most though. That conludes the streamer update.
Match Highlights - Tam knees Alex in the back of the head in the ropes. Brutal. Then a Double DDT on to Starlight and Alex. Strong. Nice Springboard Crossbody from Alex. Starlight with a good dropkick into the corner. Tam and Kid now with a strong forearm exchange. Big back drop from Tam and she tags in Hosihiki. Smiling and kicking. What I like about her the most. Off the ropes to rebound and boot Starlight Kid in the face. Fisherman with bridge for long 2 from Starlight Kid. Then the swinging neck breaker, middle rope splash. Moonsault. Broken up by Tam. Meless ensues. Lots of kicks to the head. Great. Hoshiki is getting beaten up by all 3 of them.
A 180 frog splash from Starlight Kid and a flying Di Canid kick from Natsumi, Tam again saves Hoshiki at the last minute. Great combo. Lots of pinfall attempts on Hoshiki, who is being done over here and isn’t smiling anymore.
Then she explodes off the ropes and kicks Natsumi’s face off. Boom. Springboard PK off the top and Starlight Kid to the rescue just in time. That was awesome. Another headlkick to Natsumi and that one does it. STARS A win and we get Hasiki’s music to finish. She sure can kick. Tam looks suspicious as Hoshiki grabs her hand to raise it in victory. She still isn’t sold on this team, but they are in the finals!
2nd Semi Final is Queens Quest vs Oedo Tai
Pre match Promo Highlights - I’m sure Natsu will be one!
QQ. - Viper and Bea have some back and forth
Oedo Tai Rap their promo. Natsu steals the show and cracks up at her own line. Amazing.
Here comes the Oedo Tai Banging Tune. Rippon, dagger, dance routine, pipes. Will be getting this for my running playlist. They have this routine nailed down. It’s sharp. If EVE book them for Wrestle Queendom 2 EVE vs Stardom and I can see that live I will be overjoyed. QQ entrance is fine, but Odeo Tai smashes it out of the park.
We have a male ring announcer for this match. Where has he come from??? Bea and Viper get no streamers. Utami gets a few. They all miss her. Decent steamer haul for Nastu, Hazuki and Kagetsu. Maybe the crowd have used too many and are saving some back for the final .
Match Highlights - Will we get the Natsu singing start! No. Oedo Tai just attack before the bell. Natsu throws her jacket at Utami. Outside brawl. Kagestu clocks Viper with a belt. Then Viper goes for a cannonball on a seated Kagestu, misses and she goes through a chair. Utami and Natsu are in the win and we’ve got picture in picture as Kagestsu and Hazuki beat up Viper and Bea backstage. Natsu tapped out but the ref isn’t there. Back in the ring and Natsu has the upper hand on Utami. Bea and Viper are laid out somewhere. Oedo Tai have the advantage. Natsu with the Bronco Buster. Viper and Bea make it back down Springboard double stomp from Kagetsu, Springboard stomp from Hazuki, then a vicious kick to the back of Utami’s head. Nice work. I love kicks and chops.
Kagestu mocks Utami who explodes out of the corner to knock her down. Viper nuts all 3 of them. Natsu last and she screams before she gets to her. All three into the corner and running cannonball. Big jumping knee from Bea. Codebreaker from Hazuki, crossbody from Natsu for 2. As she stands up Viper flattens her with a crossbody of her own. Springboard Double missile dropkick from Kagetsu.
Breakdown with a lot of kicks and a ribbon shot from Natsu to Bea. Utami then lifts Natsu up double stomp from the top by Bea. Pin broken up after long two. Bea codebreaker on Natsu, Holds her there for a Viper senton, then Bea with the pop up curb stomp and its over, Natsu is out. QQ win. Lovely finish. Fun Match. Bad thing is no Natsu in the final. She is selling this great as well. Falling out of the ring as she can’t stand up. What a hero!
Trios Final - Queens Quest vs Stars
Promo Highlights - Hang on Queens Quest were just in a match, have they run backstage to cut a promo and then going to go out again? Just noticed in the opening montage before the matches there is a clip of Tam angrily refusing to shake hands with Hoshiki! Haha.
Right there is no Promo. That answers that question. STARS are out first to the banger entrance they had last match. Queens Quest back out, I wonder how long there has been in between the matches? Feel like they could have saved some energy by just staying out here.
Streamer News - Hoshiki nice roundhouse through a good amount of streamers, she’s definitely out streamered Tam. Kashima might have her beat although she’s not as entertaining.
Standard no streamers for Bea or Viper. None for Utami either. Could be they’ve run out of red. I reckon that’s got to be it.
Match Highlights -
STARS rush Viper at the start and she takes them all out with a Crossbody on to all three. Top job. Nice jumping stomp from Bea to the back of Kshima in the ropes. Double springboard headscissors from Kashima wrestles back control. Double drop tool hold by Hoshiki and Tam sends Viper splashing onto Bea, followed by a stomp for a nearfall. Great. Bea smashes Tam with that jumping knee. I bloody love that. Looks awesome. Follows up by draping Tam on the rope and hitting a double stomp from the top rope for long 2. That knee though.
Bang. Viper no sells Hoshiki’s chest kicks, so she kicks her in the face, which fazes Her a bit. Then Viper hits that big nut and QQ are back in charge. Hoshiki comes off the ropes and clock Utami with an awesome kick. Not sure how to describe it other than by saying it reminded me of when Eric Cantona kicked that Crystal Palace fan. Anyway it was ace and Bea has to save the match for QQ.
Hoshiki then off the top with the springboard PK kick and again Bea has to save the match. This woman can seriously kick people in the head in a number of awesomee ways. Kashima with whatever the real name of Tomasso Ciampa’s Fairytale Ending is. The double undertook sit-out Facebuster (I may have googled that, other search engines are available). Bea again saves the pinfall. I swear if the STARS had one of the sisters working apron punt duty we’d have been home already.
Tam and Hoshiki are being held In position by Utami and Bea, Viper goes for the double crossbody but they move and she takes out her own teammates. Fantastic. Hoshiki running apron punt on Utami and Tam with flying crossbody to the outside takes out Bea and Viper. Kashima and Utami left in the ring. Kashima goes for an Unprettier but Utami reverses it into a sleeper. Great reversal that. Why don’t more people do that. Makes so much sense.
Dead lift German with bridge gets a near 2 for Utami. Bea codebreaker followed by Viper jumping elbow then Utami torture rack and Kashima taps. Its’s over QQ win.
Roberts slightly ruined it by not noticing the tap, so after Utami had put Kashima down he asked Kashima if she tapped. Why didn’t she just say no???? I would have. Apnyway she said yes and Roberts calls for the bell. Utami gets a big trophy from the ring announcer lady not from the man with no facial expression, who I think Arn told me was called Rossi?
Post Match Promo - Utami takes the time to remind us she is challenging her teammate Viper at Korakun Hall. QQ won so they get to close the show with their pose. She teaches the crowd how the pose goes. After the pose Viper seems to faint. Probably the after affect of getting battered by a chair by Kagestu.
Watched this show pretty quickly, if it wasn’t for a uni project would have done it all in one go. It really is easy watching. I like the layout of the videos. Promo, Streamers, Match. Sometimes after Promo. Simple and effective. Also they kick shit out of each other. I knew I love chops, I now know I also love kicks and that Bea Priestly knee. Smash.
My Favourite 3 on this show
1. Hoshiki - 2 matches and 2 lots of streamers to fight out of and the Eric Cantona kick. 2. Natsu - The rap, the laughing, the selling at the end. - Hero
3. Jamie Hayter/Sadie Gibbs - Just wailed on each other.
Honorable mention - The Sisters. Really up their aggression tonight I thought. Impressed me.
