We start the show with Nigel McGuinness and Vic Joseph excitedly telling us that tonight's main event will be the first semi-final in the NXT UK tag title tournament - it's Moustache Mountain v Gallus! Be a bit good, that!
TRAVIS BANKS v JAMIE AHMED
Jamie Ahmed is Screwface? This bloke cost me about £20 in shots at The Dome once when wrestling for PROGRESS. C'mon Travis!
- Banks takes Ahmed down, then rolls through into a headlock submission. Nice!
- Ahmed hides for cover between the ropes and then cheap shots Banks! I wish those shots at The Dome were cheap...
- Jumping ass drop by Ahmed! Haven't seen that one in a while...
- Banks kicks the leg out from Ahmed, causing him to land face first into the second turnbuckle...
- Running missile dropkick to the back of Ahmed follows!
- German suplex gets two for Banks.
- Double stomp in the corner by Banks!
- SLICE OF HEAVEN!
- BANKS WINS!
- Post match Jordan Devlin arrives and says that Banks is the wrestler that left home and never went back. When Devlin is finished in NXT UK, he goes home to his family and friends - does Banks' mum even recognise his voice? He says before you try and shut him up, remember to never bet against The Ace!
- That was a pretty straightforward squash for Banks, who is still yet to hit the heights of his Albert Hall showings since his injury. The post match stuff was good. The Kiwi Buzzsaw is now a resident of the UK and Devlin hit a nerve...
FABIAN AICHNER & MARCEL BARTHEL v AMIR JORDAN & KENNY WILLIAMS
Barthel gets some Nein chants from the crowd and the story of Jordan and Williams continues where Jordan wants to have fun and Williams wants to be more serious... let's see what goes down here!
- Williams and Barthel grapple to start - somewhat surprisingly Williams comes out on top!
- Jordan gets tagged in and he hits the axe handle on Barthel.
- Barthel locks in a wristlock, but Amir fights out...
- He celebrates by dancing Bhangra style!
- So Barthel CLOBBERS him mid move... BOO.
- Aichner tags in and aggressively hits Jordan with strikes.
- He misses a shoulder charge in the corner though...
- Jordan goes for a high cross body off the top, but Aichner catches him in mid-air!
- Barthel then kicks Jordan from behind via the apron. MORE BOO.
- Amir Jordan is getting double teamed by both Aichner and Barthel, but with the crowd behind him, he fights them off - only to get KILLED with a spinebuster and Penalty Kick combo!
- Chinlock wears down Jordan by Aichner.
- Aichner tags in Barthel and gets a cheap shot in on Williams - knocking him off the apron.
- Barthel lands a nice European uppercut and butterfly suplex on the fading Jordan.
- McGuinness says he asked Barthel if there were any wrestlers up to his level in NXT UK. Barthel told him Nein. McGuinness replied - wow that many!? LOLZ!
- Jordan lands on his feet out of a back body drop & makes the hot tag to Williams!
- Springboard back elbow!
- Blind tag by Jordan and Williams lands a tope on Aichner outside.
- Why is Jordan tagging in there? DUH.
- Barthel lands the missile dropkick in the ropes and the release fisherman back body drop on Jordan - but Williams makes the save at two!
- Aichner drags Williams out of the ring and hits a dominator on the barrier!
- POWERBOMB GERMAN SUPLEX COMBO!
- AICHNER & BARTHEL WIN!
- This was an excellent match. I love that The European Union are getting over - both are great. The blind tag was the changing point of the match - have a word with Jordan, Kenny!
DEONA PURRAZZO & TONI STORM DEAL
Radzi catches Toni and Deona having a chat, so he takes us closer to the gossip! Good lad, Radzi. Blue Peter badge for being nosey. Deonna Purrazzo tells Toni Storm that she deserves her spot on the upcoming UK Takeover special. Storm says they should have a match so Purrazzo can prove it and puts out her hand to make the deal.
Purrazzo accepts, looks down at her opponents hand and says 'I look forward to breaking it.'
- Eavesdropping Radzi should become a regular thing. Looking forward to the match between these two!
JOE COFFEY CONFRONTS THE BRASS
Backstage, Johnny Saint and Sid Scala are addressing “the media” about Takeover. Johnny says there’s plans on the way, while Sid touts Rhea Ripley’s title defence.
Joe Coffey interrupts and demands an opportunity for the NXT UK championship. This is his Kingdom and Dunne has his belt. Johnny Saint dismisses him… and then pushes Sid into their office to talk about it.
- This was loads of fun. Every time Scala is on screen I smile. Coffey raised some valid points as to why he should be the #1 contender and we got disciplinarian Johnny. Thumbs up.
CANDYFLOSS v JINNY
- They grapple to begin, but Candyfloss hugs Jinny.
- Jinny throws her off in disgust!
- Lovely headscissors from Jinny grounds Candyfloss.
- Candyfloss gets out of that hold and floats over into a headlock of her own, These two have great grappling skills.
- Candyfloss steps over Jinny and taunts her by lying down next to her and waving...
- One is not amused... she grabs Candyfloss by the hair.
- Candyfloss hits a codebreaker to the arm of Jinny, though!
- She then goes up top, but Jinny sends he crashing back down to the mat.
- Jinny destroys Candy with a forearm and then synches in a double wristlock.
- Ground and pound by Jinny!
- Missile dropkick by Candyfloss turns Jinny inside out!
- Jinny lands a Japanese arm drag in the corner!
- TOUCH OF COUTURE!
- JINNY WINS!
- Another great showing for these two talented women. More, please!
MOUSTACHE MOUNTAIN v GALLUS - NXT UK TAG TITLE TOURNAMENT SEMI-FINAL
- Gallus tried to jump Moustache Mountain early, but Trent Seven was smart to it as Mark Coffey was quickly taken down for an assisted senton for an early near-fall.
- Tyler followed up with a back body drop out of the corner, before Mark Coffey powdered to the outside… which allowed Wolfgang to distract Bate as the Scotsmen turn it around.
- Wolfgang comes in with a short-arm clothesline for a near-fall on Bate, before a front facelock forced Bate to fight free… which he eventually did so, scoring with headscissors!
- We’re back to Trent and Coffey, with Seven landing some chops and a DDT. A cricket bowl chop and a sit-out side slam gets Seven a near-fall, but his attempt to clock Coffey with the Seven Stars lariat goes awry when a blind tag brought Wolfgang back in, with the big guy throwing himself at Trent with a back senton as he was kept on the mat.
- Coffey’s back with a forearm as Trent was kept isolated.
- Trent fights back to his feet when Wolfgang took over the hold, which then turned into a bear hug that Trent used a bell clapper to get out of… before he gets tossed onto the ramp.
- Despite having everything sapped from him, Trent’s able to play a game of cat and mouse that allowed him to tag Tyler back in…
- Tyler ups the tempo with a tope to Wolfgang. There’s one to Mark Coffey on the outside before he returned to land an uppercut and an Exploder on Wolfgang for a near-fall.
- Coffey tried to break it up, but instead elbowed his own man as Tyler busts out an airplane spin, before he looked for a German suplex.
- Wolfgang backs into the corner to get free as Mark Coffey gets a blind tag in… but somehow Bate stands up out of a rear naked choke and breaks it while giving Wolfgang a German suplex! INSANE STRENGTH FROM THE BIG STRONG BOI!
- Trent gets involved again, knocking Wolfgang outside for a crossbody off the apron, while Tyler’s attempt at a rebound lariat’s knocked away with a clothesline and an enziguri from Coffey for a near-fall.
- Mark Coffey signals for help, and out comes Joe Coffey to interrupt… only for Pete Dunne to make the save as those two brawl around the ring!
- The tag match is still going on mind you, as Dunne hits an X-Plex onto the apron!
- BOP AND BANG!
- NECK ROPE ASSISTED LARIAT & DRAGON SUPLEX COMBO!
- MOUSTACHE MOUNTAIN WIN!
- Post match, Gallus attack British Strong Style. They manage to dispatch their attackers from the ring though - where Dunne gets on the mic and accepts Joe Coffey's challenge for NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool.
- Bloody hell Tyler Bate is a star! He worked that crowd into an absolute frenzy! This was a great match, with the right winners and a brilliant post match announcement. Good episode, this!
