Writer's picture: WSBFWSBF

Updated: Nov 23, 2018

This is the first taping from Birmingham and we begin the show with eight NXT UK women's wrestlers either side of the new Women's championship. Triple H comes out and asks the women if they are ready to compete in the eight women tournament and GM Johnny Saint reveals the title to the competitors. HYPE.

We get a recap of Ashton Smith getting blindsided by The Kingdom and it is revealed he will face Wolfgang tonight and then we are also informed that Tyler Bate will be in action against James Drake.

The eight competitors in the NXT UK Women's Championship tournament

JAMES DEVLIN v SID SCALA

Sid Scala has already lost all of his previous matches on the brand but has shown plenty of bravery and heart, whilst Devlin has won both of his matches so far - can he make it a hat-trick?

- Just like Eddie Dennis, Devlin trashes Scala saying you are not worthy and you don't belong here.

- Urangi and a moonsault from Devlin. He's so smooth with his transitions.

- Devlin is making an example of Scala, hitting him with moves at ease and trash talking as he does so.

- Scala gets his first shots in to huge cheers from the crowd, but Devlin hits the cutter over the ropes and back into the ring for 2.

- Sid almost scores a major upset with a pinning combo for 2!

- Scala unwinds with many punches then fakes a final punch before landing a neckbreaker for 2!

- Scala goes for the crossbody off the top but gets a dropkick to the face!!! OUCH.

- Devlin hits Ireland's Call and it's over.

- JORDAN DEVLIN WINS

- Post match Jordan Devlin answers if we have seen the real Jordan Devlin...

- Don't make me laugh, I know who I am - the Irish ace Jordan Devlin. All I see backstage are posers and pretenders, there's a guy backstage who has a mask and a cape and claims he's a luchador... he's from Leeds!

- The Devlin streak continues, he acted like a bully heel here to Scala, who came across as valiant and likable again, then Devlin insulted Ligero. Three boxes ticked.

Jordan Devlin is undefeated and has called out Ligero.

We then get a recap of Moustache Mountain talking about the Tag Team Championships being unveiled soon. They threw their hat in the ring and suggest the best of the roster do the same. The next match sees some unlikely alliances formed because of this...

KENNY WILLIAMS & AMIR JORDAN v SAXON HUXLEY & JOSEPH CONNERS

- Huxley tries to hip toss Jordan, who flips onto his feet and begins to Bhangra dance, which the crowd love.

- Jordan follows up with a big crossbody for 2.

- Williams tags in and targets the arm of Huxley with a legdrop onto it.

- Huxley and Conners are described as originals of the brand and commentary states they feel disrespected by some of the new members of the roster.

- Jordan tags in but Conners provides the distraction, so Huxley gains back momentum by attacking from behind.

- Conners tags in and hits multiple strong lariats to Jordan.

- Huxley tags back in but gets hit with a clothesline off the top by Jordan.

- Conners stops the hot tag to Williams to boos from the crowd.

- HOT TAG!

- Williams sprints to the opposition corner and knocks Conners off the apron with a dropkick!

- Springboard back elbow off the ropes sends Huxley out the ring too!

- Williams then dropkicks Conners through the ropes, skins the cat and hits a tope on the opposite side to Huxley. WOOF!

- Huxley reverses a DDT and tags in Conners who hits a sunset flip turnbuckle powerbomb on Williams!

- Don't Look Down!

- CONNERS & HUXLEY WIN!

- I really enjoyed that. The crowd were into Jordan and Williams with the Lucky one putting on a great hot tag and some heat is on Conners and Huxley for beating them. A surprisingly good match considering how random it was on paper!

Conners & Huxley were victorious

TYLER BATE v JAMES DRAKE

- He's got his own face, on his arse, he's got his own face, on his arse, he's got his own face on his arse... ARSE FACE! Great stuff UK fans!

- Tyler Bate gets the upper hand of Drake, slipping out of his holds and applying his own for longer.

- Bate hits his dropkick and nip-up combo then straightens his moustache. The crowd loves him and they have every right to.

- Tyler floors Drake with bop (or possibly bang)

- Drake hits Bate to the floor though, with his grit your teeth forearm!

- James Drake takes control with his strong strikes and aggressive kicks.

- Drake synches in a chinlock, whilst dragging his knuckles into the ear of Bate.

- Bate powers out and hits a standing hurricanrana

- Tyler then hits the t-bone suplex and running shooting star combo!

- Bate hits his neck bounce on the ropes to fake a dive outside and then hits a tope!

- Back drop driver for 2 back in the ring!

- Grit your teeth dropkick in the corner by Drake only gets 2!

- He goes for it again but no one home...

- Neck rope bounce lariat by Bate!

- Tyler Driver '97!

- TYLER BATE WINS!

- This was a good match yet again for Tyler Bate, and the best outing yet for James Drake. Lovely stuff.

The crowd love Tyler bate - and rightly so.

WOLFGANG (W/ THE COFFEY BROS) v ASHTON SMITH

- Lockup to begin and Smith gets the cravat, but Wolfgang stops that with strikes to the midsection.

- Massive dropkick by Smith but it doesn't floor Wolfgang...

- Springboard tomahawk chop! Smith bringing the Tatanka vibes!

- Smith reverses a crossbody into a gut buster!

- BIG Irish whip into the turnbuckles by Wolfgang. Smith hit hard.

- Ashton Smith fights out of the bearhug and lands strikes.

- Smith takes six or seven hits to get Wolfgang down. This would work better if Smith wasn't almost as big as Wolfgang!?

- High cross body for 2 by Smith!

- Ashton can't quite hoist Wolfgang up in the air...

- Wolfgang hits a flapjack and follows up with a senton.

- Wolfy then hits a new finish to pin Smith.

- WOLFGANG WINS!

- Who can take down this trio?

- That was another impressive showing from Smith and Wolfgang continues to have a better win/loss record since joining his native pals. He works better as a heel in my opinion and will be happy with the we don't like you chants he was receiving here!

The Kingdom continue their path of destruction

This was another fun watch for NXT UK and despite missing a lot of star power, the crowd were hot throughout and some background players got a chance to shine. I was impressed with everyone and I'm looking forward to seeing more of this brand!
