MEET THE NERDS: JAMES HARRIS

How did you join the group?

In 2016 I went to an Evolve show in Dallas around Wrestlemania. On that show I saw some British talent. Marty Scurll, Zack Sabre Junior, Will Ospreay. I wondered where could I see them in the UK. RevPro and Progress seemed to be the best bets in London, RevPro Rob and Luke came with me to some RevPro shows, but Progress was hard to get tickets for. I went to Brixton on my own then bought a season ticket. I went to Unboxing on my own and hung out near the bar at the back. I did the same for the January show which I think was the Thunderbastard and Dom Van Dam started talking to me as I had a Blue Jays hat on. He needed a wedge as was outdrinking the rest of the boys and he bought me a beer. I headed to Progress’ Freedom’s Road tapings (2 nights of Matt Riddle for £15) and saw Dom there. At half time I moved over to stand with him, with an intention to repay him for the beer (However it was a school night and DVD never drinks on a School night), and a couple of the other nerds. The second show I had mates at wrestling and friendships have grown from there.

What is your trademark?

Loving knees to the face. JCH’s knee of the night is a trademark on the instagram. Wearing hats. Winning August Pickems. Not mentioning going to Wrestlemania. Making up wrestling chants to Busted songs. Being an OJMO superfan.

Which is your favourite promotion?

Tough question. Most I watch on TV is Stardom or NXT. Live would be Progress and Eve. Soft spot for IWL or any show at the Dome.

Is he an OJMO superfan...?

If you could add anyone to the group who would it be?

After mugging me off at the Copper Box, my new best mate KENTA. My US mate Sal @saviordanger would like it as well. Live wrestling and he can compete with kidvigilante for nicknames that Mike can mock them for.

Funniest Nerd Group moment?

The Rock Bottom onto the pizza boxes at Ross’s stag was bloody good. My memory is hazy from most times spent together. Oh, that time Pete lost shot round to Dom and went to buy him a shot which ended up in Dom somehow also getting Pete to buy a round for Escape the Midcard.

What is your favourite venue?

That Copper Box was bloody good. Love ResGal, The Dome and Ballroom for bar/toilet ease. Was a big fan of White Eagle Hall in New Jersey. Also that Victoria Warehouse had great sitelines and was cheap drinks.

I think the winner would be Simon. It would come down to him and Daniel ad no-one wants to fight Millwall

Hopes and fears for nerd group 2020

Hope - we continue to enjoy wrestling and each others company. Or at least turn up even if we don't enjoy it.
