Here at WSBF want to thank you dear readers for taking in our daily articles in our wrestling challenge. Today marks the final day and fittingly, the theme today is our favourite comedy wrestlers.
Wrestling. Should. Be. Fun.
BRUM - LOS FEDERALES SANTOS JR
"People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people" - Super Hans
As always, Super Hans is right. When looking for artistic recommendations, I actively ignore popular opinion and seek out critical acclaim.
If I did the former, I'd be sat here reading a shit Dan Brown thriller, watching Mrs Brown's Boys, and listening to Rihanna. You may say it would be strange to read a book, watch a show, and listen to music concurrently, but the aggregate cognitive attention demanded by the above is comfortably below capacity.
Fortunately, I'm not doing these things. I'm writing an article about the greatest comedy wrestler. And, unlike the above examples, this comedy wrestler falls into the rare crossover in the best/most popular Venn diagram. This wrestler is Los Federales Santos Jr.
By doing this, Santos joins OK Computer, The Godfather, and The Goldfinch, as the rare object of both critical and public acclaim. The critical acclaim is self evident. I'm saying he's great and I'm the world's leading wrestling critic.
The public acclaim is there for us all to see too. After destroying a tournament featuring Eddie, The Rock, and Mick Foley; there is no questioning Santos is the most fun wrestler of all time.
So to Francis Ford Coppola, Thom Yorke, and Donna Tartt; please make room at your table of commercial and artistic plenty. There is a new genius ready for his dinner.
SHAFI - LOS FEDERALES SANTOS JR
Contrary to what he may claim, Santos makes wrestling fun.
Life is serious and wrestling is the purest form of escapism. That being said as our fandom deepens it's easy to be drawn into worrying about irrelevant things such as booking, work rate or whether the Undertaker is REALLY the best pure striker in the WWE.
The joys of comedy wrestlers like Santos is that they make you realise how stupid all of those things are. Wrestling should be fun. Santos' mix of dancing, physical comedy and tenuous grasp of the Spanish language is a hilarious mix.
I've seen Santos perform live several times and there's never been a time when I haven't laughed until my sides hurt. With Chief Deputy Dunne playing the straight man Santos is given full reign to be absolutely ridiculous.
Wrestling is quite a niche hobby but comedy is ubiquitous. My wife hates wrestling and will actively avoid having anything to do with it but when the AFP and Santos are on the screen she is happy to watch (and dare I say enjoy) their antics. That is the sign of a master.
I don't know when we will be attending live shows again but when we do Santos and the AFP are one of the acts I want to see again the most. Not seeing Santos for the last few months has been No Fun Nada!
ROSS CASEY - LOS FEDERALES SANTOS JR
Today has been a real rough day for me. Probably my favourite wrestling writer, Larry Csonka sadly passed away, former WWE wrestler Shad Gaspard appears to have suffered the same fate and there has been the smaller issue of BritWres drama again.
It's probably the lowest i have felt about things in a long, long time if truth be told. So when asked to write about my favourite comedy wrestler it came as a welcome relief.
Los Federales Santos Jr is a wrestler that every single time a match announcement is made featuring him on a show i am going to, I get much more excited about the card. Whether he is in a singles match or with his Anti Fun Police crew, you know you are in for a joyous piece of entertainment.
Life can be cruel, today proves that and sometimes you have to be grateful for what you have in this world and in Los Federales Santos Jr, we lay witness to the greatest comedy wrestler in the world.
Thank you, Santos. Apologies we temporarily cost you your badge.
DOM VAN DAM - LOS FEDERALES SANTOS JR
One of the great questions: “who would play you in a bio-pic of your life?” I always said that it would be the late, great comic actor Chris Farley. Now that Farley has gone to the great bar in the sky, I guess I have to choose someone else.
I get some “Farley vibes” from Los Federales Santos Junior. Unfortunately he’s far too sexy, funny and athletic to ever play your humble narrator. But he does give me something to strive for.
