Even during the pandemic WWE and AEW are offering PPVs for purchase. They are a bedrock of wrestling - but which are our favourites?

BRUM - ROH GLORY BY HONOR V: NIGHT 2

I've mentioned in these tomes before how this period of Ring of Honor is my favourite of any promotion.

I believe its zenith to be the second night of the 2006 Glory By Honor show.

ROH fans usually point to Man Up, Driven, or one of the Manhattan Mayhems as the company's best ever show. They are all reasonable shouts but there is something about Glory By Honor V that gets me giddy.

The whole card is great but the final 3 matches (4 if you count the very good Homicide/Joe v Briscoes match) are all super bangers.

One of the most underrated matches in ROH history is the Kings of Wrestling vs Aries/Strong from this show. I've never heard anyone talk much about it but I love it.

But the night is known for its two singles matches to close the show. McGuinness vs Marufuji & Danielson vs KENTA. Just writing that down gives me goosebumps.

This was the first I'd ever seen of Marufuji and was very impressed. He was fighting my hero big Nige though so I did hate his guts but that doesn't mean I didn't doff my proverbial cap when my nerves died down.

Finally, the main event of this show is one of the best wrestling matches ever. Danielson vs KENTA. It's over half an hour but it's so intense that it feels like 15. 2 brilliant talents at the peak of their careers wrestling their tits off. What's not to like?
