30 Day Wrestling Challenge - Day 24 Dream Match

Writer's picture: WSBFWSBF

Jinder Mahal tweeted recently that him versus Drew McIntyre would be a dream match - proof indeed that the phrase can be used for something only you want to see.

With that in mind, let's see what the WSBF nerds picked!

ROSS CASEY - CHARLOTTE FLAIR vs. TESSA BLANCHARD

My pick was going to be Eddie Guerrero vs. Dominick Mysterio, but as that match sadly can't actually happen, I have gone for something that I think will be equally as special.

For someone that bangs on about the importance of faces vs heels, I think it's important to understand my thinking here. Neither of these women are particularly liked by the IWC and that is silly, but for the purpose of my match being a dream one we need to understand how I will address that.

Here, I am booking Tessa Blanchard to make her debut in WWE with several vignettes of her being her brilliantly insincere self, along with clips of her wrestling as she explains who she is, her history and why she is joining WWE - to prove that she belongs.

The final vignette features her father Tully and he says that Tessa isn't coming alone, so Ric - see you at Starrcade.

The match sees both legendary Horsemen in the corner of their respective daughters as they witness the pair put on a classic.

Neither are liked, but both are respected and when Tess wins by out-cheating Charlotte, after her initial outrage, Charlotte smirks and shakes Tessa's hand. The dads then do the same as Charlotte takes the mic.

She puts Tessa over and says that the Four Horsewoman are not all here in the ring now, but they should be... come on down girls. Sasha and Bayley laugh and mock the fans by the entrance wooing and giving the four finger salute in their abrasive cocksure manner.

Charlotte then announces that from here on in, Becky is out and Tessa is in. The Four Horsewomen are here and they are here to stay.

I think they would have excellent heel chemistry as a group and they can take on the MMA Horsewomen and win before setting up an epic rivalry down the line when The Man returns.

BRUM - NIGEL MCGUINNESS VS WILLIAM REGAL

As I'm writing this up a day early due to work commitments, I'm not sure if Ross has put any restrictions on the dream match criteria. However, I am going to put some on myself.

As tempting as it is to go for some cross-generational epic like Okada vs Misawa, I'm going to pick a match that could have happened, if the stars aligned correctly. I'm going to go with William Regal vs Nigel McGuinness.

And I want it to happen in 2008: A 32 year old McGuinness at his pomp vs a 40 year old Regal as a wily vet who can still go (this is the year he won the King of the Ring, to put it in perspective).

I know Regal had a lot of fun in the WWE & enjoys doing comedy and outlandish character work, but from a selfish perspective, I would have loved to see this match take place in ROH.

Watching these combine the European catch style with their violent strikes whilst battling their wits & cunning would be a delight. There also big fans of each other which could play into the match. I think at one point Regal said Nigel was the best wrestler on the planet. Regal is at his best when respect is a factor & especially if he thinks he's against the odds.

Give them 20-25 minutes & they could bring the house down.

Though 2008 would be my preference, if HHH booked them for a future TakeOver, I'd still be glued to the screen.
