Once again we open with GM Drake Maverick who details the latest goings on in his brand. He congratulates Mustafa Ali on winning the #1 contendership and announces that he will get his title shot at Survivor Series against Buddy Murphy.
He then runs down the card for tonight, with Lince Dorado and Kalisto of the Lucha House Party looking for redemption against TJP & Mike Kanellis, who have been disrespecting the heritage of Mexican wrestling and champion Buddy Murphy taking on NXT UK star Mark Andrews.
- Another great intro from Drake, although I am a little disappointed that the title shot is at the PPV. I doubt they get the time slot allocated to them that they would have got on this show. I'm sure they will still put on a great match, though. Plus they will make more money there.
TJP & MIKE KANELLIS (W/MARIA) v LINCE DORADO & KALISTO
TJP comes out for his entrance wearing Metalik's mask and has Kalisto's tied around his neck after he ripped them off over the past few weeks. What a bastard! This is like when Kama turned the Undertaker's urn into a necklace...
Kalisto and Lince Dorado VT promo. Lince Dorado is actually pretty good on the mic. He should be the mouthpiece for this group.
- Kalisto has the upperhand to begin with, using his speed and agility.
- He takes the piss by riding TJP like a horse...
- Quickfire moves on TJP including a no hands splash from Dorado. Bloody love that move.
- TJP powders on his knees and cuddles into Kanellis. Love that spot, Owen Hart would be proud.
- Kanellis tags in but immediately gets double clotheslined out of the ring.
- Luchas fake a tope each and pose in the ring together. Awesome.
- The crowd are relentlessly chanting for Nigel to wave to them. He ignores them throughout. What a legend.
- Head scissors takedown by Dorado.
- Kanellis is on top but blows a kiss to Maria and loses momentum. Love that.
- TJP slows things down with a chinlock.
- Kalisto tags in with a flying crossbody!
- Blind tag by Kanellis, who slides Kalisto out of the ring and hits a Russian leg sweep into the barrier!
- Kalisto counters into a DDT!
- Trifecta of moonsaults by Dorado!
- Luchas land moonsaults to the outside in stereo!
- Kneebar from TJP on Dorado!
- Kalisto makes the save...
- Kalisto hits a tope on Kanellis on the outside.
- Dorado goes for a pinning combination
- TJP rips his mask off!
- Dorado had another mask on underneath though!
- Dorado flosses at TJP showing he has one upped him.
- Hurricanrana by Dorado!
- LUCHA HOUSE PARTY WIN!
- Kanellis and TJP try to rush the ring in fury but Maria stops them, saying she has a plan and she has this. They now have all three masks, so I am assuming they will be part of the Maria masterplan next week!
- This was a fun match, with everyone working really hard but I found the constant Nigel chanting distracting and infuriating. Don't be a dick, lads. The Luchas outthought TJP here, not fooling for the unmasking tactic. Kanellis didn't take the pin as they are building him as a new character and they are giving a prominent role to Maria here it seems, which I am all for. I also appreciated that a Mexican move beat TJP, who has been disrespecting that wrestling heritage. Continuity for the win!
CEDRIC ALEXANDER AT THE PERFORMANCE CENTRE
Cedric is training in the ring under the watchful eye of Steve Corino when Lio Rush arrives...
I just had to see if the rumours were true... Cedric Alexander HAS lost all of his confidence, so now he is back here training with the rookies!
Alexander says that if Rush stops carrying Lahley's bags and actually gets in the ring and learns... maybe he will be a champion one day.
Rush says he knows what Cedric wants... the Cruiserweight championship back around his waist. He won't get it here at the Centre, he needs a marquee match... against Lio Rush! I'm not a hard man to find... if they let you out of class on time.
Percy Watson announces that match does take place next week. HYPE.
- This was excellent, the hard working Alexander gets belittled by the cocky Rush, who shows disregard for the PC and wants to fast-track his way to main events. You want to see Cedric kick his ass. Great to see Corino on WWE TV too! I also like them using the PC for storyline purposes, creates a world outside the arenas.
LIO RUSH v JOSH MORRELL
Lio Rush stares at a woman trying to hand slap him. He looks her up and down laughs and walks past her saying 'not happening.' Brilliant.
- Rush looks across the ring and says Who are you?
- Morrell gets the better of Rush after a wristlock exchange!
- Lio uses his speed to try and get the upper hand but again gets caught by Morrell.
- Should have gone training with Corino, son!
- Big enziguri sends Morrell to the outside!
- Rush brings the aggression slamming Morrell into the barrier and then stomping a mudhole in him!
- Drop toe hold to the bottom turnbuckle! Morrell sold that like a champ! That looked SAVAGE.
- FINAL HOUR FROGSPLASH!
- LIO RUSH WINS!
- Rush dedicates his victory to Cedric Alexander. Ever since he lost his championship, he has been in a slump. SO he decided to go back to his roots at the PC. I'm not mad at him, I respect it. Hard work beats talent - but let me remind you that nobody works harder than Lio Rush. If he thinks for one second that he is going to get back on his high horse at the expense of Rush - he has another thing coming. The Age of Alexander comes to it's final hour next week... tick tock, Cedric. Tick, tock.
- Man Rush is great in the ring and on the mic. I like the fact that this plays into the fact that Rush kind of fast-tracked NXT and he has no time for the PC and I am looking forward to the match next week. Rush is undefeated in singles competition and Cedric is on a losing streak... an interesting matchup. I liked what I saw of Morrell too. He wrestles as @Turbo_JoshTerry - give him a follow!
MUSTAFA ALI PROMO
Ali is at outside with his hood up... at first they called him a 'maybe' now they call him th heart of 205 Live. At Wrestlemania I had a chance to have them call me champ. I let it slip through my hands. Now I have a chance again - me and Buddy Murphy are on a collision course. This time they ARE gonna call me champ.
- Man, he is great isn't he?
BUDDY MURPHY v MARK ANDREWS
We get a promo from Murphy first, who says there will be happy ending for Ali who has fought and clawed his way back to title contention. The bad guys always win and you can't stop the unstoppable.
- Andrews loses the grapple to start as Murphy shows his superior strength advantage.
- Exchanges end in a standoff between the two as we get speed v power throughout.
- Andrews sells brilliantly as he is thrown from one side of the ring to the turnbuckle. Really shows the strength of Murphy. Someone weigh this guy - is he under 205?!
- Andrews almost steals one with a pin combination.
- Kneeslide and enziguri from Andrews!
- Andrews lands a flip into a headscissors over the top rope and to the outside on Murphy!
- Lawn dart to Andrews into the turnbuckles!
- HUGE hip toss by Murphy.
- AND ANOTHER!
- Murphy with vicious elbows to Andrews.
- Reverse rana by Andrews!
- Tope from Andrews sends Murphy over the commentary table!
- Andrews uses the steps to cannonball into Murphy on the outside!
- Stomp 182 and a twisting moonsault for 2 by Andrews!
- Andrews unfortunately botches a springboard sunset flip powerbomb.
- Andrews avoids cheeky nandos
- He goes for a tilt the whirl DDT but Murphy uses his strength to turn that into a powerbomb!
- STUNDOG MILLIONAIRE! (You don't suplex Andrews)
- Andrews goes for the SSP but Murphy gets his knees up!
- RUNNING KNEE LANDS HARD ON ANDREWS!
- MURPHY'S LAW!
- BUDDY MURPHY WINS!
- Another great Buddy Murphy match, but that crowd can fuck off. I'm glad Nigel McGuinness ignored them throughout again. A mixture of Nigel chants and apathy is a disgrace to that match and both wrestlers.
This was a good show in terms of the content and the matches, but I found this almost unwatchable at times as the crowd were grating on me so much... what a disappointment. I was really looking forward to this show in front of a buzzing UK crowd. What we got from them here was ugh.
